Can You Identify this Fashion Trend?
Margaret and I spotted an interesting new style as we walked around Disneyland today. Apparently, there are multiple facets to this style. We saw people sporting either some or all of the following:
- Colorful beaded bracelets (often going all the way up the arm)
- Stuffed animal/cartoon backpack
- Brightly colored suspenders
- Wide-leg pants made from brightly colored (often fuzzy material)
This wasn’t something we spotted on one or two groups of people. Oh no, we saw these creative kids everywhere. Can anybody clue us in?! Is this a trend? A statement? The new teenage rebellion?

I have NEVER seen this before, but you ARE in L.A. and I’m not. That means that we’ll see it in a year or so. I love how you just took pictures of them behind their backs. Ha ha.

Okay, so somebody at church tipped us off…then I found this article on wikipedia about “candy (or kandy) ravers” …apparently, a this is “a rave attendee who exchanges or shares small gifts, primarily beads, necklaces, toys, bracelets, or stickers.” I guess they all decided to come to Disneyland on the same day

It reminds me of the Japanese street style “lolita/harujuku”
In this fashion, accessories are key and anything cartoon-y & cutesy is perfect.
These teens might have gotten ideas from the the Japanese teens.
